Electric heater not working Again?

An electric heater is a mandatory electrical appliance that is very essential during the winter months. The electric heater is used to keep the room at optimal temperature for people residing in countries where there is harsh winter and autumn weather, it heats up the room gradually and provides comfort and coziness. Electric heaters come in different types such as wall-mounted, portable, and others, from which you can pick the one that serves your needs.  Irrespective of the type of electric heater all-electric appliance may develop a fault and stop working for a number of reasons.

⦁ Unable to turn on the electric heater

Check the power sources: Improper power supply or no power supply is a common cause of the electric heater not functioning or turning on again.

How to Fix: You can check if the power supply is available from the main by using a voltage tester. If you detect no problem there move on to check the power switch and ensure that it is not faulty. To check your power switches all you have to do is to connect another power device to the switch and observing whether it is working.

  Blown fuses are another most common cause for the electric heater malfuntion

How to Fix: Unplug the device from the power supply and check the fuse box of the house for damage or blown fuses as well as tripped circuit breakers.

If in case it is confirmed to be a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker, call your electrician nearby to replace the fuse or upgrade your circuit breakers.

⦁ Auto safety shut off

Auto safety shut off feature in the electrical device is in-build in several heaters these days. This feature prevents the heaters from becoming too hot by shutting down the device when it detects the electric heater becoming too hot. This ensures safety and prevents fire breakout. Sometimes this feature could also make your heater not to function

How to Fix:  Reset the feature by switching off the power switch, unplug the device from the power supply and let it cool down for 10-15 minutes and plug it back to the power outlet again and turn the switch on. This should get your electric heater running perfectly, but if it is not working, the thermostat might be the problem.

⦁ Check the thermostat

A thermostat that is gone loose, be stuck, or may have become faulty can be the reason as to why your electric heater doesn’t function

How to Fix: Inspect the thermostat and check which level it is set at the right level. If not, try switching it on to a higher temperature level and see if it starts functioning again.

To make sure your heater keeps functioning keep a watch on your thermostat level so that it doesn’t stop functioning due to the auto safety shut off feature that is in the device. If you have a malfunctioning thermostat such as the thermostat dial may be stuck or become bad it is recommended to check the thermostat and if possible should be replaced by contacting a professional technician.

CAUSE: A faulty electric cord can cause non-functioning electric heater 

How to Fix:  Run an electrical safety inspection to ensure the power cords for any breaks. Any torn, damage or breaks has to replaced immediately by a licensed electrician. It is mandatory to update your wiring to ensure electrical safety standards

Faulty or broken heating element can the reason why you are feeling cold.
